Parker, Lawrence, Cantrell & Smith is a general civil practice law firm based in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee. Because we are located in Middle Tennessee, we are able to, and frequently do, represent clients throughout the entire state.
The Firm represents a broad range of clients, including individuals, large and small corporations, business entities, insurance companies, and medical groups. Primary practice areas include medical malpractice and professional liability defense, insurance, tort and personal injury, contracts, products liability, condemnation, civil rights, employment, workers’ compensation, healthcare, public utilities, domestic and family law, banking, business, wills and estate planning, probate law, and others.

All of PLCS’s attorneys are admitted to practice in Tennessee State and Federal courts. One of our lawyers is also licensed to practice in Georgia, and another in Texas. In addition to their respective academic and private achievements, each attorney brings a variety of experience to the Firm’s practice. PLCS attorneys have served in such varied roles as Tennessee Circuit Court Judge, military judge, counsel in the Armed Forces, law clerk for the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, law clerk and Staff Attorney for the Tennessee Supreme Court, Tennessee Law Revision Commission member, counsel in the Law Department of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County, and Hearing Officer for the Board of Professional Responsibility.

One of our attorneys is also a Registered Nurse. PLCS attorneys are active in the Tennessee and Nashville Bar Associations with members serving in various leadership capacities. Foremost among our bar activities is participation in the Nashville Bar Association Pro Bono program; the Firm has received special recognition for many years for its work in representing those who qualify for indigent legal assistance.

The Firm’s attorneys have served as members and officers of the Board of Directors of the Nashville Bar Association, the Lawyers Association for Women (President), the Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women, the Tennessee Bar Association’s Litigation Section (Chairman), the Nashville Bar Association’s Litigation Section, the Nashville Bar Association, the Nashville Bar Foundation Community Relations Committee, the Advisory Commission to the Supreme Court on the Rules of Practice and Procedure, and The Harry Phillips Inns of Court. Our counsel have authored legal texts on codes administration and enforcement and have been published in journals such as the Tennessee Law Review, American Journal of Trial Advocacy, Litigation Letter, Nursing Management, and O.R. Nurse, as well as Continuing Legal Education publications and litigation materials published by insurance companies. Parker, Lawrence, Cantrell & Smith attorneys frequently speak, lecture or teach at Continuing Legal Education courses, in-service training seminars and conferences.

In addition to maintaining involvement in legal associations, the Firm’s attorneys are active in the civic and charitable affairs of the Nashville community. Parker, Lawrence, Cantrell & Smith attorneys serve on the boards of many educational, religious and charitable organizations that serve the Nashville community.
